This set of stamps commemorates the 1997 Annual Meeting of the Boards of Governors of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund held in Hong Kong during the period 23 to 25 September 1997. The stamps depict some of the services which help Hong Kong maintain its role as an international financial centre and service hub in Asia. They are: $1.30 stamp (finance and banking); $2.50 stamp (investment and stock exchange); $3.10 stamp (trade and telecommunications); $5 stamp (infrastructure and transport).

The World Bank Group consists of the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development, The International Developoment Association, the International FinanceCorporation, the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency, and the International Centre for the Settlement of Investment Disputes.
